I believe the shallowness is due to its attempt to cover Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Entourage in a 398-page volume. Like many other CF4K titles, this book is printed on colorful, heavy-duty paper that is kid-friendly, aesthetically appealing, and holds up well to regular reading.
While I typically prefer to read short narratives directly from the Bible, a book of this nature can be advantageous for a number of reasons. It is filled with excellent practical advice. It's been 100 years, and Taylor is still holding up!. Second, there a few careless errata (my favorite are VB files given a .cs extension) but on the other hand, this is by no means uncommon in Wrox books; I've read a few, I know.
